How to make your book available through various booksellers, including Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com
Here is the process Xlibris publishes your book at their site for sale as a print-on-demand, perfect bound paperback and also makes it available as an electronic download. They not only assign an ISBN number to your book, but it is listed in the Books in Print Directory. Since they have an affiliation with Random House, your book is wholesaled to Barnes & Noble and other outlets associated with Random House. Your book becomes available world wide. I have sold books through Xlibris to many locations, including Isle of Mann and the UK. A number of writers publishing their work at Xlibris have been picked up by conventional publishers. I suppose it is about EXPOSURE, something I stress in my workshops. That is the main purpose of this website. This is not a commercial for Xlibris as opposed to other online publishers, but I can attest to their professionalism and excellent handling of your book through experience. They carry ten of my books and have sold copies of all ten, including copies to Ingram Book Distributors. It is fairly easy to submit your work to them either online or by snail mail. When I published my books with Xlibris, there was no charge for the basic publishing package. Since, they have been forced to start charging $200. to publish your book. I do know they have quite a large staff and facilities, so must do what they have to do to remain fiscally viable. Having checked out many sites that promise you the moon, so to speak, I would highly recommend that you be extremely careful in paying to have your book published at many of these sites. That is why I am completely sold on Xlibris. http://www.xlibris.com write this site down. After looking through the other pages having to do with publishing your book, visit their site and look around. Publishing with them was only a small part of my overall strategy to sell my work. This website is slowly being linked to many, many sites to draw visitors to it. If you publish through Xlibris, you retain all rights to your work, so you can also publish your work here without charge of any kind. You may sell your books from this site as a download, or you may sell them in paperback from this site if you have paperback copies. The only charge to you for using my site is $1.00 per paperback book sold, or the actual cost to me for electronic downloads of your book, which is $1.50 plus ten percent of selling price. This is what my credit card processor charges me. I have used Xlibris and this website to augment my own self publishing. If you want to buy a few of your books from Xlibris at Author's price, it works out okay. But you cannot buy them cheaply enough to resell and make money on your book. That is why I self-publish paperback copies of my book at a much lower cost. If any of this interests you, be sure to read my articles here on self-publishing.
